John 3:10-16
The
child of God will surely live righteously. First we must know who we
are. In verse 2 we are told that we are sons of God. In our selves
we are still the old flesh we have always been. By divine adoption,
however, we are made sons of God. What a glorious privilege1 As
sons we have the nature of God in us. In 2 Pet. 1:4 it is said that
we have been made partakers of the divine nature. In our obedience
to God we must also love one another, :10, 11.
In
our new life we must not be as Cain. Cain was of the Devil as we see
in verse 12. He was a murderer according to verses 12, 15. He also
hated righteousness according to verse 12. What is your attitude
toward righteousness?
We
live our new life in a whole new realm. We are no longer dead in
trespasses and sins :Eph. 2:1. We have been quickened by the Blessed
Spirit. Thus instead we have passed from death unto life :13, 14.
We no longer live in death and hatred :14, 15. We are to love as
Christ loved :16. Christ's love was a love of the will. He did not
love us because He found us lovely. Instead He loved us simply
because He willed to do so. His love was self denying.
Is
your new life what it should be?
