Lev
11:45
Our
Lord Is Holy
Our
text tells us that God is Holy. This speaks of the purity of His
Character. Holiness is His very Nature. Even the demons had to
recognize His holiness.
His
Holiness is displayed in all His works Ps. 145:17, in His
providence Rom. 8:28, and in His electing grace Eph. 1:4.
In
His Holiness He is omnipresent. In his address on Mars Hill, Paul
declared that He was not far from any of us Acts 17:27. God's
omnipresence is in collaboration with His holiness in Psa. 139:7-10.
Jesus Himself spoke of his omnipresence in John 3:13 "And no man
hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even
the Son of man which is in heaven. " Our Lord not only tells us
He has been in Heaven, and that He came from Heaven, but He tells us
that while he stood talking to His disciples on earth, He was at the
same time in Heaven. This is astounding. It could only be so because He is God.
In
His Holiness he is also Omniscient. He knows everything, John 21:17.
There is no cvreature that He does not know Heb. 4:13. He knows all
the imaginations of Man's Heart, Gen. 6:5. He knows the future
before it happens.
Our
Lord is also omnipotent in His Holiness. When the angel told Mary of
the coming birth of Jesus, He said that nothing is impossible with
God Luke 1:37. God challenged Jeremiah with that omnipotence Jer.
32:27. His omnipotence is seen in creation. It is seen in His
upholding all things Heb. 1:3; Col. 1:17. That omnipotence is also
seen in the success of the Gospel and the salvation of souls.
Our
Lord is holy in His nature and all His attributes.
