For What Will You Die

FOR WHAT WILL YOU DIE

Luke 9:24

Brave men signed a declaration of independence in Congress proclaiming that God was the giver of certain rights among which were "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness."  Our forefathers loved life.  It was more than just continue existence to them.  What does life mean to you?   Is it wealth, good times, and/or fame?  Jesus Proclaimed Himself to be Life in John 14:6 saying that no man could come to the Father but by Him.  Some men, who think they are really living it, are dead while they live.  See 1 Tim. 5:6.

         For those brave men liberty was their Passion.  They fled the tyranny of King George III and braved the unknown waters to come to a new and unchartered land.  When the king sought to lay the tea taxes on them, they rebelled against that burden with the Boston tea party, throwing the kings tea over board.  Let us thank God real freedom is in Jesus Christ  

         Those brave men did not demand happiness; they Demanded the pursuit of happiness.  They must have known that happiness is not attained; it is stumbled over in the process of duty.  Our forefathers pursued it with their lives, fortunes, and their sacred honor.  Peter told us of unspeakable joy, 1 Pet. 1:8.  Have you that joy?  This is what Jesus meant, when He spoke of losing life to save it.
