Isa 10:5 O Assyrian, the rod of
mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.
Assyria (Iraq) is God's Tool. God Called them His rod of anger, 10:5. God proposed and did send them against Judah, the hypocritical nation, in the Babylonian Captivity, 10:6. Babylon did not know what they were doing, 10:7 but they were doing the will of God as a chastening rod. They did it in great pride 10:8-11. When God is through with Iraq He will punish him 10:12-19. God will punish their stout heart and their high looks. He will deprive them and burn them 10:16
Let us look ahead at what shall yet come to pass in this respect. Verses 20, 21 speaks of a time when a remnant of Israel would return to God and their land. They would no longer depend on their neighbors, but they would depend on their God. Israel would be restored to her land and multiplied 10:22,23. In verses 24-27 God is encouraging His people, Israel. The indignation against Israel will cease. The shoulder of Israel will be delivered from the burden of the enemy. The yoke will be removed from his neck. In verses 33, 34 we see God will be the final Victor. .
In Isa. 11:1-16 we see Our Lord is coming again. The first 5 verses are general. We all know that He came. In verse 6 we see it turning to a future time. There shall be a restoration to an Eden like relation between the animals and between animals and man. Then the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. In that day Gentiles shall seek, and His rest shall be glorious. In verses 11-13 we see the regathering not from Babylon but from the nations of the world. In verse 14-16 they shall defeat the Palestinians, and they shall live in peace.
