THE DIVINE PURPOSE OF GOD continued

THE DIVINE PURPOSE OF GOD continued
Act 2:23
"Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,"
"Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of
God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Act 2:24
Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was
not possible that he should be holden of it."

Having crossed the Red Sea into the wilderness, the children of Israel were no longer just a family.  God made them a nation and gave them laws to live by.  These laws came to be what we call the Mosaic Covenant given to Israel by God through Moses.  Did God know that they would not keep that covenant.  Of course He knew.  He is omniscient.  He permitted them to break it over and over and yet He would not break it.  He used that Law as aschoolmaster to tutor his people until Christ came.

I have not touched it all by any means, but what we are seeing is sufficient to see that "Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Act 2:24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it."

As time went on the children of Israel became tired of their judges and decided they wanted a king.  God told Samuel that they had not rejected him (Samuel) but they had rejected Him (God).  In His mercy God gave them a king.  First it was Saul.  Because of his disobedience God rejected him from being king.  In his place God gave them David, a man after God’s own heart.  Did this take God by surprise?  Certainly not!  All of this is in that determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God.  God made a covenant with David to give him an eternal dynasty, and that he would reign forever.  David is no longer with us, but his dynasty lives on even in King Jesus.  David will yet rise from the dead and reign on His restored throne, according to Ezekiel 37.  Again it is in that determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God.  What say ye?  Do you agree?  Feel free to express yourself.
