Daniel was interpreting the dream from Nebuchadnezzar about the four empires. In Daniel 2:44 he told him that in the days of those kings the God of Heaven would set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed:...it shall stand forever. The tribe of Judah furnished its king until the Babylonians took them captive. Jesus came and set up that eternal kingdom. When asked by Pilot, "Art thou a king then"
Jesus answered, "Thou saidst." The Creator preached His kingdom and was crucified. The world thought they had freed themselves of this "King." John the Baptist and the Apostles preached His kingdom. Jesus said the gospel of the kingdom would be preached until the end comes. This kingdom is still our message, but this spiritual kingdom is not all. Jesus will return and sit upon the throne of His father, David. This will be His kingdom manifested in a physical way. It will be the fulfillment of what He declared in the original creation.
