From the fall of Adam Satan continued as the God of this world. Was God then defeated? Absolutely not! God created a nation of Israel, and God continued to rule this earth through Moses, Joshua, and the prophets through Samuel. Then Israel must have her king. He was the people's choice, but God allowed them to have Saul and told them the problems it would bring. Thus the Kingdom of Israel, however, was established. God then rose again in triumph and enthroned His king, David, and promised him an eternal dynasty. This is a continuation of God's command in Eden to have dominion over all the earth. This continued through the life of David and his son, Solomon. Under the reign of Rehoboam, Solomon's son, another crisis came. Jeroboam led a rebellion with 10 tribes in the north and created what became known as the kingdom of Israel, while Rehoboam was left with only two tribes Judah and Benjamin which became known as the kingdom of Judah.
Again is God defeated? No, He continued to govern his people through Rehoboam and his successors. In the meantime the Assyrians took the northern kingdom captive, and the Kingdom of Judah was left as God's kingdom to rule the earth. This kingdom governed only a small part of the earth, she miserably failed morally and spiritually in her mandate from the holy God. Again is God a failure? Absolutely not! We shall see what He did in a later blog. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS?
