THE
DIVINE PURPOSE OF GOD continued
Act 2:23
"Him, being
delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,"
"Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel
and foreknowledge of
God, ye have taken,
and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Act 2:24
Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of
death: because it was
not possible that
he should be holden of it."
We must also see Who this
Great God of purpose is. He is not just
some figment of our imagination. To
accomplish all that we have said, He had to be the Great God of power. It was His will and purpose also to reveal
Himself in 3 persons in one Godhead. He
is the God who is said in Scripture to inhabit eternity. Was He one Who divided and became 3? No, certainly not. He is immutable. All three persons are immutable. If they were not, they would not be God. The Holy Spirit was not created at Pentecost;
He always proceeded from both the Father and the Son. In the beginning it was the Holy Spirit that
brooded over the face of the deep. Jesus
did not become the Son of God at His birth or at His baptism; He is the
eternally generated Son of God. He is
not a Son of God as we Christians are;
He is the only begotten Son of God.
We are sons by adoption which is also from eternity. God, the Father, is not One who upon the
birth of Jesus became 3; He has been 3 in 1 from all eternity.
When He would create man, He said, "Let us create
man in Our Own Image." The very
name for God used in the creation message, Gen. 1:1 is Elohim, which is a
plural word. Yet He is not three gods
united in One; He has from eternity been one God, Father, Son, & Holy
Spirit.
There is very much more that could be said about this, but
for the sake of time and space, we shall let this go for now. This will serve to show assuredly that our
salvation is no simple, stumbled over fantasy.
It is the well thought out purpose of the wise and sovereign God. What think ye of this?
