When Jesus comes back and manifests his kingdom in a physical way, it will not be the end. He will reign for 1000 years which will be followed by the Great White Throne Judgment. Then He will destroy this world again. It will not be a flood of water this time; it will be a destruction by fire. The Heavens and the earth will pass away, and the elements will melt with a fervent heat. Then He will create a new Heaven and a new Earth. On this new earth our Lord will then reign forever. This last and eternal kingdom will be on the new earth that will have come out of the destruction. It will be similar to the the first one in Eden before the fall of Adam. We must remember the covenant God made with Noah did not say the earth would never be destroyed again. It stated that the earth would never again be destroyed with water. This next time it will be by fire. Just what will that last kingdom be like. We know it will have been purged from the curse that the old earth suffered. We know that the tree of life will again be at our disposal. Whatever Eden was like before the fall, the new earth will be that good and even better.
Will it be in the same area that Eden was? Where was Eden anyway? It was much bigger than the garden God planted in the east of Eden. The river Pison flowed around Havilah in the area of modern Yemen toward the Mediterranean Sea. The river Gihon flowed by Ethiopia in the area of the Nile River. The Tigris and Euphrates rivers are still flowing in the land of Babylon or Iraq. Interestingly enough this is the same land God promised to Abraham and his seed after him. That was from the river of Egypt all the way to the river Euphrates. Now this is a distance of about 1000 miles. The new Jerusalem that comes down out of Heaven is about 1400-1500 miles cube. Will that city sit down over the spot that was originally Eden? What are your thoughts on this?
