How
to Handle Problems
James
1:2 "My
brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;"
The
only people who do not have problems are those
who have gone on to their new home. We have different problems, but
we all have them. The question is how do you handle them. See them
as a test of your faith. Verse 3 says,
"Knowing this,
that the trying of your faith worketh patience." Through
tribulation we learn patience. Patience does not come any other way.
Trials are for your maturing in the faith of Christ :4 "But
let patience have her
perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."
Our
trials make us see the need for wisdom. Let us pray for wisdom.
Verse 5 tells us, "If
any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all
men liberally,
and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." Wisdom
is sadly lacking today from the halls of congress on down
to
the cross roads of America. We must pray in faith. When James, here
in veers
6, tells us to pray in faith, he is talking about praying for
wisdom. If you
trust God today, but you do not trust Him tomorrow, you are not wise.
If you trust Him
in
the good times, but you cannot trust Him
in the trials, where is your wisdom. I hear some people bragging
about how good God is when they are experiencing grace and plenty. I
am here to tell you God is good in the hard times too.
Even
your financial tests can be a blessing. In your poverty rejoice;
perhaps God will exalt you as James said in verse 9. If you have
been blessed to have plenty, be not puffed
up. Rather humble yourself; God is able to bring you down. One
blessed with plenty should know also that it is the grace of God that
has enabled him to have plenty.
In
your trials rejoice, for God may be preparing you for blessing
others. Those who are tried are promised a crown of life. God has
promised it to those that love Him.
