Are You Rejoicing?
Psalm 33:1
Not many people are rejoicing today. One might say there is not much to rejoice about. Nevertheless we are commanded to rejoice in the Lord, because praise is beautiful for the righteous.
We should rejoice because it is the right thing to do. According to verses 4, 5 our Lord is righteous and faithful. According to verses 6-9 He is the Creator of all things. According to verse 21 it is right for us to rejoice, for we have trusted in His holy Name.
His sovereignty deserves our rejoicing. According to verse 10 He is sovereign over His enemies. According to verse 11 His counsel is forever. "The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations."
Rejoice because the nations whose God is the Lord are blessed. Verse 12 tells us this. God knows us all. According to verses 16, 17 kings and mighty men are not safe without Him. In verses 18-20 God's oversight of His people is blessed. The Psalmist prays in verse 22, "Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee."
Remember it is impossible to have a bad day with a good attitude.
