I'VE BEEN THINKING

I've been thinking. I believe I have the answer as to why we are as a nation in the mess we are in. Yes, President Obama bears his share, but I believe there is something even worse. How can that be? Well, I am going to include the results of two poll I read. I believe they are quite revealing. The first one is in answer to the question, "...which are you more focused on when choosing your candidate?"
Regarding healthcare reforms, 56,690 only (8%) of those polled considered this the most important. Next, national security was the issue. Only 133,883 (19%) considered National Security of most concern. Preserving traditional values didn't do a lot better. It was chosen by 182,036 (25%) of those polled. What was the greatest deciding factor? It was jobs and the U.S. economy. Nearly half (46%) 330,202 of those polled said the most important thing was jobs and our economy.
In another poll only 4.48% considered increased national security as the most important. In this poll reviving the economy was not far ahead of the first. There were 4.84% who chose this factor. The next highest choice was 7.41% who chose as first importance the cutting of taxes/spending. Not far above that was 12.98% who chose fighting illegal immigration as most important. The highest percentage of all was 70.28%. Their choice was repealing Obamacare.
Here is my commentary on these results. In the first poll, when only 19% were mostly concerned with national security, and in the second poll, it was only 4.48%, is it any wonder that our people do not rise up in arm at all the beheading and other cruelties? Illegal immigration really affects our national security and our economy, but only 12.98% considered that the most important. By the way, which do you consider the most important? Preserving our traditional values was not included in the second poll. In the first one it pulled 25% of those polled. Again if only one fourth of our people are concerned with traditional values, is it any wonder the Ten Commandments have come down and the Bible and Christianity are ridiculed? It is a blazing sight to see that in the first poll including health care, jobs, and our economy the amounts come to 54%. In the second poll putting the economy, taxes & spending, and repealing of Obamacare together as economic issues, we see the percentage is a whopping 82.53%. The Bible tells us that the love of money is the root of all evil. It also tells us that covetousness (greed) is idolatry. Do these polls not show us that we have completely lost our mooring? When we put such a high priority on money matters and skip around the values that are important to our Judeo-Christian life, how can we expect anything more than just what we are getting? I understand as much as anyone the necessity of getting our finances in order, and our congress has done a very insufficient job in these matters, but beloved our real problem is we have turned away from God and turned to idolatry (the almighty dollar).  We are now reaping the consequences.  What say you of this?
