THE OMNIPRESENT JESUS

John 3:13  And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that
came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

Note what is said in this verse.  He says nobody but he had ascended into Heaven.
What about Enoch and Elijah who both had been caught up into Heaven?  They were caught up.  He Personally ascended into Heaven.  He said no one had ascended into Heaven except He that had come down from Heaven.  He, no doubt, was talking about Himself.  The astounding thing is what He said next. He said even the Son of man which is in heaven.  He is here declaring that while He stood there and talked with them, He was at the same time in Heaven.  How could He be on earth and in Heaven both at the same time?

This teaches us about the omnipresence of Jesus.  O the wonder of Who He was and Who He is!  This One who came down from Heaven was seen by Isaiah as he looked into Heaven.  Notice John 12:41.  "These things said Esaias, when he saw my glory, and spake of him."  He is the Rock that followed Israel in the wilderness.  They were without water, and God spoke to Moses to smite the Rock which he did and from the Rock came rivers of water sufficient for all Israel.  That was in the beginning of their wilderness wandering. Nearly 40 years later, they were again without water. This time God told Moses to speak to the Rock, Moses in a fit of temper smote the Rock again.
God still gave them water out of that rock, but because of this Moses died on top of the mountain where he looked over and saw the land.  There God buried him, and he was not permitted to go over into the promised land.  In 1 Cor. 10:4 then Paul spoke of that Rock that followed them. One came down from Heaven. He is the Messenger of the Covenant in Mal. 3:1   In John 10:30   He is One with the Father.

The Heavenly One came down from Heaven. He came to suffer, and He did. See John 3:14, 15, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life."  He suffered in our stead.  In 1 Peter 3:18 we read, "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit."  He suffered willingly and patiently, see
Isaiah 53:7, "He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth:  he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth."  He also suffered victoriously.  See Isaiah 53:10-12, "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief:  when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.  He shall see of the travail of his soul and shall be satisfied:  by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.  Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong:  because he hath poured out his soul unto death:  and he was numbered with the transgressor; and he bare the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors."
